Frozen

Nature grieving the loss of my beloved uncle.

I know I near Khalo’s home when I pass

the glistening maroon cranberry

bogs Cranberry bogs are frozen, today

as though the Fruit begs, “oh! let us freeze time -

Let us pause

Just for a moment please! Those days were so sweet.

Why must we need to let go??

Perhaps we should stay frozen in this

frozen

bog,

embraced with the moments spent amongst your shining soul.”

Oh, to go back in time…. to spend one more moment here with you, Khalo

‏- soul of my heart -

Like the cranberry, bitter, stuck, I choose to

Surrender and

embrace the sunlight.

I move, fluidly knowing the rays will shine

and warm Earth

and warm

Me.

I flow.

and the memories? Forever alive in my aching heart.

Rest in the sweetest peace, الله يرحمك Khalo Mohamed.
